The Will Do foundation
(last update: 17-5-2010)
"It all started in June 2007. I can still see myself reading: "28 AIDS stories from Africa". The first story was about a woman who had lost 8 children to AIDS and was looking after her 17 grandchildren. One granddaughter was a girl, 14 years old and pregnant. The grandmother worried that this child would be HIV positive too. This book opened my eyes. It was clear from the start that things in South Africa are nothing like they are here. A lot of HIV positive people become outcasts because people are afraid to become victims. Later that night I decided to go to Africa myself to volunteer for 9 months."
Wil Groot.
Wil has, from his desire or ‘will’ to help (in Dutch "Willen"), made the decision to ‘do’ something (in Dutch "Doen"). This decision has grown into the charitable Willen & Doen foundation.
Will Do Foundation helps to fight the battle against AIDS in South Africa. There is a very high prevalence of HIV in South Africa. A whole generation of parents have fallen away as a result of AIDS, leaving their children in dire need of care. Our mission is to offer these children and adolescents a place where we can help guide them towards a better future. South Africa's youth has to secure the future of this beautiful country and they deserve our full support.
With the help of our supporters, we can bridge the gap between the will to take action, and actually doing. We do this through supporting small-scale projects that allow for direct results and feedback. Our organisation incurs very few costs so your donation will go to where it is needed most.
In our newsletter you can find the latest news of the foundation. On Wil's weblog: ‘WILHELMUS’ you can read about his involvement in local projects. In our video section you can have a look at some of the projects in South Africa.
Would you also like to change your desire to help into taking action? You can support us from as little as the price of 2 beers per month. Read more
